Charlie Birkel focuses his practice on environmental regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters. He frequently represents clients at both the trial court and appellate levels and in matters before federal and state agencies. Charlie's experience spans various federal and state environmental statutes, with a particular emphasis on the Clean Air Act (CAA) and parallel state laws.
Charlie also maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on appeals.
Charlie graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School and magna cum laude from Haverford College, where he completed his undergraduate degree in English. Before joining the firm, Charlie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Carolyn D. King of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Honorable Jan E. DuBois of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
