Tuesday, July 23, 2024
noon-1 p.m. ET
Arnold & Porter Webinar

In one of the most significant rulings in the 90-year history of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. Supreme Court in Securities and Exchange Commission v. Jarkesy, stripped the SEC of its ability to seek civil penalties for securities fraud in administrative proceedings. Please join members of the Securities Enforcement & Litigation practice, partners Veronica Callahan and Dan Hawke and senior associate Stephanna Szotkowski, as they discuss the decision and what it means for the SEC’s use of administrative proceedings in its enforcement program. They will also discuss other civil penalty statutory regimes more broadly, that are likely to face challenges in the wake of the decision.

This webinar will include a special focus on the impact of the decision on federal agencies in the life sciences industry and provide in-house counsel and executives with background on the Jarkesy decision along with an analysis of the implications for the SEC and other regulatory agencies.
