Schmidt Quoted in Global Competition Review on Use of the National Security and Investment Act in Recent Transaction

Partner John Schmidt, who leads the firm's UK Competition team in London, was quoted in the recent Global Competition Review article, “UK unwinds Chinese purchase of major semiconductor maker.” The article discusses the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s use of the National Security and Investment Act (NSIA) to unwind an acquisition by China’s Wingtech Technologies’ Dutch subsidiary Nexperia of a UK silicon wafer manufacturer.

Schmidt spoke to the publication about the decision to utilize the NSIA, and the likely possibility of an appeal, due to the lack of remedies when the order was issued.
