Hawke Quoted in Courthouse News Service on ESG Funds

Securities Enforcement Litigation partner Daniel Hawke was quoted in the Courthouse News Service article, “Do you know what’s really in your ESG fund?” The story further explains ESG funds and discusses what consumers need to know about companies holding large funds of this type.

Hawke noted that the SEC is increasingly relying on more traditional anti-fraud and disclosure rules as there are not ESG-specific enforcement guidelines defining fraud and greenwashing, which can cause problems. “No one has articulated the standards of disclosure. When is something required to be disclosed? What is important to investors? All of that is evolving, and the absence of rules makes things precarious."
