Arnold & Porter’s Executive Leadership Academy Program Featured in Washington Lawyer

July 11, 2024

Arnold & Porter Co-Managing Partner Ellen Kaye Fleishhacker, Commercial Litigation partner Ryan Hartman, and Chief Legal Talent Officer Andy Colón were recently quoted in the summer edition of the Washington Lawyer, where they discussed the firm’s Executive Leadership Academy (APEX) — a two-year training program for new partners, lateral partners, and counsel who come from government or in-house roles. The program communicates the firm’s values, provides practical tools for success, introduces participants to the firm’s senior leadership and professional staff, and fosters professional and personal relationships.

“One of the firm’s core values is excellence in the practice of the law,” Fleishhacker told Washington Lawyer. “Many of these trainings are about how to continue to be excellent in the practice of the law now that you’re the one who’s leading the team.” Hartman echoed these thoughts, adding that “this program offers ideas, guidance, and perspectives on the many practical challenges of being a law firm partner, allowing participants to focus on delivering outstanding results for clients, growing their practices, and leading their teams most effectively. There is something in it for everyone.”

Colón noted that the firm received “overwhelmingly” positive feedback from the program’s participants. “Participants truly appreciate that the firm is investing in their transition into these roles,” he said. “They actively participate. They enjoy the social events and the opportunity to network.”
