Inside EPA Speaks With Sarah Grey on Impact of EPA’s Enforcement Action Against Carbon Sequestration Well
October 4, 2024
Inside EPA recently spoke with Environmental partner Sarah Grey about the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) enforcement action against one of the first “Class VI” carbon sequestration wells in the U.S.
In discussing the potential impact on other capture and storage (CCS) projects, Grey stated that she does not expect the violation to “stifle investment in CCS, given the number of projects underway and a really rigorous technical review that goes into development of those projects,” but it is “premature” to judge the exact effects of the violation because “so little is known about what occurred here.”
