‘Start Engaging’: Peter Schildkraut Discusses EU AI Act Requirements for General Counsel in Bloomberg Law

Peter Schildkraut, co-leader of the firm’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications industry group, was recently quoted in the Bloomberg Law article, “Four AI Questions In-House Counsel Must Face in 2025.”

The article discusses the European Union (EU)’s AI Act, which applies to both European companies and non-EU companies that sell AI systems or the output of AI systems into the EU. The majority of the requirements will take effect in mid-2026.

Schildkraut advised general counsel to identify any ambiguities regarding how the law applies to their companies and to engage with EU officials for clarifications in official guidance. “Start engaging,” he said. “Try to steer for clarity that puts your product or service on the safer side of the ambiguity, rather than on the more burdensome side.”
