Financial Services partner and former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) founder and enforcement attorney Meredith Osborn was quoted in the American Banker's article "'Not a political issue': Compensation stalls amid CFPB turmoil." The story discussed potential delays in redress plans due to ongoing challenges at the oversight agency.
Osborn told American Banker that a court order could be the most efficient potential course of action to move the redress process forward and resume compensation for consumers. "The courts could get impatient [with the CFPB] and say that they're holding this process up by which the consumers are supposed to get this money," Osborn explained.
