Arnold & Porter Joins Law Firm Antiracism Alliance, Commits Pro Bono Resources to Combat Systemic Racism

June 25, 2020

Arnold & Porter has joined the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA), an initiative created for law firms to dedicate substantial pro bono resources combating systemic racism in long-term, high impact, and collaborative ways.

The LFAA charter, signed by more than 125 law firms, outlines the initiative's immediate plans to participate in race equity work and systems project design. This summer, participating firms will convene at a summit of law firm leaders, Diversity & Inclusion professionals, and pro bono professionals to examine and eliminate policies and practices within law firms that perpetuate racism. A subsequent fall summit will expand to include firm stakeholders and will center on listening to affected communities and community organizers to inform LFAA action.

Following insights gathered from both summits, a Systemic Racism Legal Inventory (SRLI) will be formed with the aim of providing a catalog of laws that perpetuate negative outcomes for people of color. The SRLI will further guide law firm efforts to work toward reform of those laws.
