Daily Journal Names Arnold & Porter Partners Amar, Reis to 2021 'Top Labor & Employment Lawyers' List

Arnold & Porter partners Dipanwita Deb Amar and David Reis were named to the Daily Journal's 2021 list of "Top Labor & Employment Lawyers." The annual supplement profiles California's "top lawyers advocating for workers and employers" and spotlights their practices.

Daily Journal’s profile of Amar highlighted her recent litigation successes for businesses related to employee allegations of discrimination, harassment, wage-and-hour violations and wrongful termination. Daily Journal noted her increased involvement in internal and confidential investigations for significant clients, and the novel issues in the litigation she is handling, particularly in relation to the California Private Attorneys General Act. Amar explained that, since “different courts are responding to the cases differently,” PAGA-related disputes pose unique challenges for California-run businesses. Despite those issues, Amar has “continued to have success in her litigation” in 2021 and stays on the pulse of local legal developments.
 
The publication also profiled Reis, who is head of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, for handling wide-ranging and “high profile” labor and employment matters during 2020. While serving as lead counsel for the Oakland Raiders in myriad employment litigation matters, Reis handled “unusual” legal issues related to arbitration pursuant to National Football League rules. Reis also actively fielded unique questions from clients on pandemic-related rules and requirements that they have “never faced before.” He continues to advise the Raiders and other clients on related issues. 
 
Amar has been named to the list eight times since 2012. Reis has been named to the list eleven times since 2010.
