Arnold & Porter Advises Inter-American Development Bank on Issuance of Landmark Blockchain-based Bond
Arnold & Porter advised the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on its issuance of a two-year $10 million blockchain-based bond. These bonds were the first blockchain-based regulated bonds listed on the Spanish stock exchange Bolsas Mercados Españoles.
The offering, which closed on July 26, 2022, is part of the IDB’s strategic exploration into innovative financial instruments and services with the goal of advancing the social and economic development agenda of its member countries. Through its Latin American LACChain blockchain platform, the IDB plans to issue future thematic bonds in Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean.
