Arnold & Porter Receives Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) Gold Certification for Black Equity at Work
Certification reinforces the firm’s commitment to achieve measurable and sustained progress
WASHINGTON, DC, February 16, 2023 — Arnold & Porter is pleased to announce it has earned Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT)’s Gold Certification for Black Equity at Work. The firm was part of the Inaugural Cohort of leading employers committed to achieving MLT Certification, a first-of-its-kind program that provides actionable standards for employers that want to achieve Black equity.
Richard M. Alexander, Chairman of Arnold & Porter, said: “We are honored to be a partner with MLT in this critical effort. We are pleased that we have been certified by MLT at the Gold level. This reflects our ongoing commitment to an inclusive and equitable work environment and to fostering business practices that support Black equity.”
Brenda Carr, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, added: “MLT is a leader at transforming talent pipelines and propelling change throughout various industries and communities. Our partnership with MLT will continue to help execute the firm’s plan for increasing Black equity.”
The plan focuses on the five MLT Black Equity At Work Pillars: Black representation at every level; compensation; inclusive work environment; just business practices; and justice contributions and investments. As part of its comprehensive roadmap, the plan outlines measurable goals and proactive steps for prioritizing the recruitment, retention, and advancement of Black professionals at Arnold & Porter.
Arnold & Porter’s participation in the MLT Certification program builds on the firm’s actions aimed at the retention and advancement of Black professionals. In 2020, the firm announced partnership initiatives to advance Black associates at AmLaw firms, increase the pipeline of students of color, and address equity in the US education system.
