Arnold & Porter’s Pro Bono Asylum Work Recognized by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights
Arnold & Porter recently was recognized by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area (LCCRSF) with the Father Cuchulain Moriarty Award for its pro bono work securing asylum for immigrants fleeing violence in their home countries. The Father Cuchulain Moriarty Award recognizes the pro bono contributions of attorneys assisting the Lawyers’ Committee Asylum Project.
Arnold & Porter received the award during the LCCRSF’s 36th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards, which celebrates “the success of LCCRSF and our pro bono and community partners in solving intractable local problems with national significance around racial, economic, and immigrant justice.” Arnold & Porter attorneys recognized with the award included partners Zachary Fayne and Deborah Fishman, along with associates David Barnes and Rica Santos.
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area works to build an equitable and just society by working to dismantle systems of oppression and racism. In 2022, the organization had over 1,000 active pro-bono volunteers who donated over 29,000 hours of pro bono work on 1,800 cases.
