Arnold & Porter Advises Vela Industries Group in Acquisition of Chile-Based Samtech

Arnold & Porter has guided another significant corporate transaction in Latin America, advising Vela Industries Group, part of Vela Software Group, a portfolio of technology firms focused on the needs of capital-intensive, high-consequence industries with large workforces, in the acquisition of Santiago, Chile-based Samtech, a fleet management, machine performance, and telematics software and hardware provider for the mining, construction, and rental fleet industries in Chile and Colombia.

Samtech's fleet management system enables comprehensive monitoring and traceability of heavy, light, and ancillary vehicles, scalable from small fleets to large organizations with thousands of assets. It deploys a comprehensive management suite that combines operational, logistical, and administrative data, allowing customized business process rules to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Vela Industries Group plans to distribute Samtech's products globally to the mining industry, complementing its existing dispatch solutions. The acquisition will also provide Vela Industry Group's customers with a comprehensive, OEM-independent solution for asset management.
