Daily Journal Names Amar, Reis to 2024 ‘Top Labor & Employment Lawyers’ List

August 7, 2024

Arnold & Porter partners Dipanwita Deb Amar and David Reis were named to the Daily Journal's 2024 list of “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers.” The annual supplement profiles California's “top labor and employment lawyers specializing in litigation, PAGA matters, unlawful terminations, and workplace investigations.”

Daily Journal’s profile of Amar highlighted the breadth of her expertise. They noted her work for a medical manufacturer that retained Amar for a case of “lifting and shifting” trade secrets and in which her legal prowess led to court orders that have been “held out in legal circles as examples of how a company can protect itself.” The article also touched on her work in a FINRA arbitration in which the “unusual question” of whether the FDIC could be compelled to arbitrate to complete the case brought by an ex-employee had to be resolved by Amar before she could proceed with the case.

Reis, head of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, was deemed a “veteran litigator and negotiator” who is often called upon to “replace existing counsel in wage and hour class actions.” Daily Journal highlighted Reis’ ability to obtain “quick and efficient solutions” in PAGA cases such as one in which he obtained summary judgment for an employer that terminated a worker on medical leave. The publication also noted Reis’s continued success on behalf of a repeat client for whom he has “quickly and successfully resolved several class action and PAGA actions, leading to more assignments.”

Amar and Reis have been consistently recognized as top labor and employment lawyers by Daily Journal, with Amar being named to the list 11 times since 2012 and Reis being named 14 times since 2010.
