The ACLU of Delaware Honors Peta Gordon With the 2024 Clarence Darrow Award
Arnold & Porter counsel Peta Gordon was recently honored by the American Civil Liberties Union of Delaware (ACLU-DE) with the 2024 Clarence Darrow award, which is presented to a member of the legal community who has made exceptional contributions to a cause for justice.
ACLU-DE highlighted Gordon’s instrumental role representing the NAACP Delaware State Conference of Branches and Delawareans for Educational Opportunity in a constitutional challenge to Delaware’s educational funding system. In her role as cooperating council, Gordon helped to secure millions of dollars of school funding necessary for Delaware students’ education. Gordon maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on educational equity cases, and was honored by ACLU-DE for her dedication to preserving and advancing civil liberties for all.
The award was presented during the ACLU-DE’s annual Kandler Awards Celebration, which honors the work of members of the community who exemplify former ACLU-DE President Gerald “Gerry” E. Kandler’s commitment to the defense of all Delawareans’ civil liberties.
