Securities Docket Names Daniel Hawke, Jane Norberg, and Christian Schultz to the 2024 ‘Enforcement Elite’

November 11, 2024

Arnold & Porter partners Daniel Hawke, Jane Norberg, and Christian Schultz have been named to Securities Docket’s ‘Enforcement Elite’ for 2024. The list recognizes “the best securities enforcement defense counsel in the industry… who not only have the right stuff to handle bet-the-company matters, but are also the kind of defensive specialists critical to have on speed-dial should the SEC’s Division of Enforcement come calling.” The list is guided by a simple question: “who would you hire if you, your company or a family member was faced with an important SEC enforcement matter?”

Norberg is a former Senior Officer and Chief of the Office of the Whistleblower in the Division of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission. She represents clients in SEC enforcement defense, internal investigations, and is the subject matter expert on whistleblower issues including defense of whistleblower retaliation and impeding claims. Norberg also assists companies with proactive steps including establishing policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate SEC scrutiny. She represents clients in a broad range of industries including tech, life sciences, manufacturing, accounting, and financial services.

Hawke, former Chief of the SEC Division of Enforcement Market Abuse Unit and Director of the SEC’s Philadelphia Regional Office, counsels clients on all manner of SEC and FINRA enforcement, examination, and regulatory compliance matters, focusing on defending financial services firms, corporate executives and board members facing investigation by their regulators. Schultz, former Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, represents public and private companies, financial institutions and accounting firms, and individuals in regulatory investigations, complex financial and securities litigation, SEC and PCAOB enforcement actions, and white-collar matters.

The honorees were announced at a reception on November 6 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., following the Securities Enforcement Forum D.C. 2024.
