Arnold & Porter Named to Global Arbitration Review’s List of Top Firms for International Arbitration
Global Arbitration Review (GAR) included Arnold & Porter in its 2025 “GAR 100” list, which highlights the world’s top 100 leading international arbitration practices. GAR ranks firms based on several factors, which include the research, data, and overall work the firm has completed within the field.
GAR noted that the firm’s International Arbitration practice is led by partner and global chair Maria Chedid in San Francisco, who frequently acts in tech and life sciences disputes for clients and has been successful in broadening the group’s commercial arbitration offerings. GAR also highlighted the firm’s impressive track record in the international arbitration field, noting that although it is “rightly known for its work for states,” the firm has “won substantial awards for investors” and has “excellent knowledge of international investment arbitration, both in substance and procedure.” The publication recognized partners Paolo di Rosa, Patricio Grané Labat, Whitney Debevoise, Mélida Hodgson, Jun Hee Kim, Anton Ware, and Álvaro Nistal, and senior associate Peter Schmidt for their contributions to the practice.
Arnold & Porter’s International Arbitration team has achieved numerous positive defense outcomes for sovereign states in investor-state arbitration cases. In the commercial arbitration space, the team is known for handling sensitive, complex, and high-stakes disputes under all major arbitral rules and is widely acclaimed for its oral argument and cross-examination skills in the hearing room. The group has been described by Chambers USA as “a sophisticated, well-oiled machine comprised of a deep talent pool meticulously trained by an extremely knowledgeable and experienced leadership.” With highly ranked leading practitioners based in eight offices across the U.S., UK, China, and South Korea, the team offers clients a practice of exceptional depth and scope.
