Preston Smith Named to the National Bar Association’s 2025 ‘40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocates’ List

Arnold & Porter Commercial Litigation and White Collar Defense & Investigations senior associate Preston Smith was recently named to the National Bar Association’s (NBA) 2025 “40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocates” list. The recognition highlights the next generation of attorneys under 40 who are “blazing trails in the legal profession and beyond.”

The NBA honored Smith for his broad range of achievements, including innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community involvement. Smith has successfully litigated cases involving contractual disputes, consumer products issues (including the Consumer Product Safety Act and the District of Columbia’s Consumer Protection Procedures Act), business disputes, environmental torts, and real estate litigation, up to trial and appeal. He has conducted direct and cross-examinations of fact and expert witnesses, argued motions, and handled complex discovery matters. Smith represents companies and executives in commercial litigation in state and federal courts, as well as in government investigations pursued by the U.S. Department of Justice and other regulators. Additionally, he regularly represents clients in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where he serves on the Civil Rules Committee and the Civil Jury Instructions Committee.

The “40 Under 40” recipients will be honored during the NBA’s centennial convention in Chicago on July 26, 2025.
