Private Client Services
Arnold & Porter's Private Client Services group provides an interdisciplinary approach to addressing the complex needs of wealthy individuals and families related to their businesses, investments, wealth succession planning, and philanthropic activities. The group counsels clients on a wide variety of issues relating to estate planning, tax, real estate, family disputes, business organization, and succession planning.
We review our client's overall picture, from the protection of assets to issues of family harmony, and from philanthropic goals to the client's tolerance for complexity and risk in tax planning. We work closely with the other members of the client's team of advisors, helping the client obtain answers vetted not just by us, but by other relevant advisors. Our attorneys communicate clearly and frequently serve as a confidential sounding board. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with our individual and family clients.
In addition, our firm is a leader in international and cross-border estate and tax planning, recognized for our significant experience in tackling complex personal, trust, and probate issues arising from foreign investment in US-situated assets and US interest in foreign trusts and foreign investments. We have substantial experience in pre-immigration planning and outbound expatriation. We advise individuals and fiduciaries in a wide variety of tax compliance matters, including voluntary disclosure programs, such as the Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures and the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program; Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA); and other foreign informational reporting requirements.
