Design and Construction
We represent clients at every stage of the construction process, from predevelopment to design and construction. We have substantial experience negotiating all types of construction contracts, including preconstruction services contracts, architect agreements, and construction contracts for design-bid-build and design-build forms of project delivery. Our attorneys counsel clients on the full spectrum of design and construction projects, including office developments (both core-and-shell and interior tenant improvements), residential projects, health care facilities, corporate and non-profit headquarters, and sports and entertainment venues. Our experience includes both private projects and government contracts work. Our design and construction clients have included real estate developers and investors, multi-national corporations, hospitals, nonprofit institutions and high-net worth individuals.
We work closely with our clients' in-house architects, engineers, construction managers, facilities managers, and attorneys throughout all phases of design and construction. When our clients lack facilities or construction management capabilities, they call on us to negotiate construction management contracts with independent contractors or construction managers. In addition, we assist in the preparation of requests-for-proposals and advise on the analysis of competing bids. Our attorneys also help manage construction risk and liability by advising on the appropriate insurance programs for each project. Finally, we represent our clients in the various forms of dispute resolution which can occur during the course of construction projects, including change order negotiations, close out settlements, mediation, arbitration, litigation, and other forms of dispute resolution.
