During this webinar, the sixteenth in our Policymaker Speaker Series, Assemblymember Blanca Rubio (D-CA) will discuss her role, responsibilities and priorities as the newly elected leader of the Assembly's informal moderate Democrat caucus, provide a recap of the 2020 legislative session, and highlight anticipated issues for the 2021 legislative session.
Assemblymember Blanca Rubio was elected in 2016 to serve California's 48th Assembly District encompassing parts of the Eastern San Gabriel Valley. She serves on several policy committees—ranging from the Budget Committee to the Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee—and also chairs the Select Committee on Domestic Violence. Prior to serving in the Legislature, she spent 16 years as a teacher and 20 years in elected office, serving on the Valley County Water Board and Baldwin Park Unified School District.
