Arnold & Porter Continues Boston Growth with Addition of Veteran White Collar Partner and Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Giselle Joffre

November 16, 2023

BOSTON, November 16, 2023 — Arnold & Porter announced today that veteran white collar defense attorney and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Giselle Joffre has joined the firm’s White Collar Defense & Investigations practice as a partner, resident in Boston.

Hemmie Chang, head of Arnold & Porter’s Boston office, said: “Giselle’s arrival builds on the firm’s strategic investment in Boston, and contributes to our growing presence in the region. Giselle is an outstanding advocate for her clients, who benefit from her deep white collar experience. Her focus on the defense of civil and criminal healthcare fraud uniquely places Arnold & Porter as one of the few firms in Boston with the ability to offer a full range of practice area expertise to our life sciences clients, as well as our broader client base.”

A former federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Joffre brings substantial experience in handling government investigations of corporations and executives, complex commercial litigation, and sensitive internal investigations. With a focus on white collar matters in the life sciences sector, Joffre has represented corporate executives and corporations facing criminal healthcare fraud and civil False Claims Act investigations and litigation. She has also represented pharmaceutical and medical device companies, pharmacies, hospitals, physician groups, insurance plans, and diagnostic and genetics testing companies. Her experience at the U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuting civil healthcare fraud matters, along with various types of criminal fraud, enables her to help clients understand the government’s perspective and to obtain the best outcomes for her clients.

In joining the firm, Joffre said: “Arnold & Porter’s white collar and life sciences practices are widely well respected and include exceptionally talented former high-ranking government officials and litigators. I am thrilled to be joining a firm with a stellar reputation, deep bench of regulatory expertise and far reaching geographical footprint, and look forward to growing the firm’s presence in Boston along with expanding my practice alongside my new colleagues.”

Joffre earned her J.D. at Yale Law School and her A.B. in Economics, magna cum laude, at Harvard College.

In September, Arnold & Porter announced the opening of its Boston office with a focus on life sciences and health care transactions, litigation, regulatory counseling, and government investigations. This followed the opening of the Amsterdam office in August 2022, which significantly enhanced the firm’s European life sciences regulatory capabilities.

Joffre is the latest former Assistant U.S. Attorney to join the firm, a list that includes Valarie Hays in Chicago; Suneeta Hazra in Denver; John Fietkiewicz in New Jersey, as well as the former U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Paul Fishman; Marcus Asner, Stephen Cha-Kim, Jonathan Green, Judge Joseph Greenaway, Michael Kim Krouse, Manvin Mayell, Nancy Milburn, Michael Rogoff, Sara Shudofsky, and Craig Stewart in New York; Meredith Osborn in San Francisco; and James W. Cooper, Deborah Curtis, William Hoffman, Amy Jeffress, Craig Margolis, John Nassikas, Howard Sklamberg, and Baruch Weiss in Washington, D.C.
