Andrew Zacher Joins Arnold & Porter’s Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory Practice
Arnold & Porter announced today that Andrew Zacher has joined the firm’s Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory practice as counsel, resident in Washington, D.C.
Zacher brings to the firm over 10 years of experience advising top-level government officials on complex, high-profile, and time-sensitive regulatory and public policy matters. He previously served in high level positions in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including Acting Chief of Staff and Associate Chief Counsel for Drugs in the Office of the Chief Counsel. Earlier in his career, Zacher spent nearly two years on Capitol Hill as the FDA detailee to the Senate HELP Committee, where he played a critical role in crafting and negotiating legislation such as the Food and Drug Omnibus Reform Act of 2022 (FDORA) and the Verifying Accurate Leading-edge IVCT Development Act (VALID Act). Zacher has developed in-depth knowledge on an array of policies and regulations affecting FDA-regulated products and a network across all branches of government. His practice focuses on providing legal and public policy advice to both traditional biomedical product companies already experienced in bringing FDA-regulated products to the market, and emerging companies navigating the system for the first time.
Zacher earned his J.D. from Albany Law School and his B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Over the past several years, Arnold & Porter has expanded its U.S. and European Life Sciences Regulatory footprints with partners Joshua Barlow (Boston), Gina Cavalier (Los Angeles), Philip Desjardins (Washington, D.C.), Fred Kelly (Boston), Liz Lindquist (Denver), and Eva Temkin (Washington, D.C.), counsel Monique Nolan (Washington, D.C.), and partners Carla Schoonderbeek and Bart Jong (Amsterdam). The firm also bolstered its Life Sciences Intellectual Property team with partner Abigail Struthers (New York) and its Life Sciences Transactions practice with partners Hemmie Chang (Boston), Betty Yan (New York), and Niket Rele (New York).
*Admitted only in New York; practicing law in the District of Columbia during the pendency of his application for admission to the D. C. Bar and under the supervision of lawyers in the firm who are members in good standing of the D.C. Bar.
