Judge Greenaway Honored With Garden State Bar Association’s Roger M. Yancey Award
The Garden State Bar Association (GSBA) honored Arnold & Porter partner Judge Joseph A. Greenaway, Jr., with the Roger M. Yancey Award during its 49th Annual Scholarship Gala on June 29, 2024. This is the second time Greenaway has received the Roger M. Yancey Award, which is given for outstanding achievement as a jurist. He previously received the recognition in 2007.
The GSBA is the oldest and largest professional organization in New Jersey for African-American judges, lawyers, law students, and legal professionals. The group serves as an advocate for African-Americans and other historically disenfranchised groups in the important work of advancing equity and fairness in the legal profession and beyond.
Nominated by President Bill Clinton, Judge Greenaway served for more than 13 years on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. In 2010, President Barack Obama elevated Judge Greenaway to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, where he served until last month. Earlier in his career, Judge Greenaway was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, and held the post of Chief of Narcotics.
