The stay-at-home orders in place as a result of the COVID-19 emergency have heightened the need for alternatives to in-person notarizations of documents as well as for reliance on electronic signatures. Since mid-March, both federal and state legislation has been proposed to meet this need and numerous state executive orders have been issued to address the immediacy of the need. This webinar provides background on the validity of electronic signatures and the state of play with respect to remote online notarization laws and regulations, highlights some of the key concerns surrounding both.
